New shoes - Blue Giro Terraduros

I can't help myself. As I was browsing Amazon, I saw that the Giro Terraduros now come in blue! In just a few clicks, the damage has been done - it was on its way to my Shipping Cart. (I'll tell you guys about my experience on that service some other time).

The first Terraduros came in either black or red orange. The black version was boring and the red orange version was a bit too loud for my taste. Now that it's also available in blue, no second thoughts occurred as I clicked that "Buy Now" button.

I can't wait to try these out on the trail!

A Realization in Yesterday's Bike Shop Hopping

Yesterday, I joined Onad, Bonnielee, and Eric in a bike shop tour around the Pasong Tamo (Chino Roces) and Cartimar areas. We dropped by Dan's Bike Shop to check out their sale. I was able to score a Fox 2XL shirt(which I discovered was too big for me) for less than P400.00. We also raided Goyo's Bike Town, the Specialized Concept Store, Lifecycle, and Sabak. After lunch, we drove to Cartimar and visited Paulina's, Ross, Velo City, and Cristy's.

In the end, I got a big shirt, Eric got a new Camelbak hydration bladder, and Onad was able to have his brother's Fox TALAS fork serviced (on the same day). Bonnielee was the winner. He bought a pair of DT Swiss 26-inch wheelsets on sale, the latest Shimano Deore XT gruppo sans the brakes, a pair of Kenda Nevegals, inner tubes, and skewers.

I haven't done bike shop hopping in a long time. It's great to see that there are more choices now.

My sad realization is that the 26-inch wheel is dying. I know a lot of people are still using it including myself, but the supplies are getting scarcer. The once glorious wheelsets are now placed at the back of the shop. The tires are now at the bottom of the pile, if there are still some left.

I know I don't need to upgrade. My bikes are fine the way they are. But in a few years, I may not have any choice.

Video: Trying out the Technical Section of the Unknown Bike Park

We got invited by friends to try out the course at the Unknown Bike Park somewhere in Silang, Cavite. Armed with a freshly installed Autosweep RFID, King and I drove there to check it out.

The video below is taken from just one of the more interesting features of the course. I'll post the other videos of the ride soon when I finish editing it.

In the meantime, enjoy!

Currently, the Unknown Bike Park is still closed to the public. It will be used for the World University Cycling Championships in March 2016. As of now, they're still adding sections to make it more awesome.

Here's a map going to the place:

Biking in Manila: The Heroes' Mountain Bike Trail Full Loop Video

So this time I brought along the GoPro for a loop around the Heroes' Trail at Taguig City. There are a lot of new sections from the last time I rode it. Before, it was just 2.13 kilometers. Now, it's about 3.7 kilometers long. How about that!

Check out the video below. Warning though. It's quite shaky.

Do let me know what you want to see more using the comments section below.

Happy New Year!
